CEO
Ilan Sobel has been the CEO of BioHarvest Sciences since July 2020. Bioharvest Sciences is a global leader in plant cell biology leveraging its patented technology platform called Botanical Synthesis to grow life-changing plant-based molecules at the greatest levels of industrial scale to deliver the next generation of science-based and clinically proven therapeutic solutions without having to grow the plant itself.
BioHarvest is achieving this vision via its Contract Development and Manufacturing Organization that develops unique plant derived compounds for major customers in the pharmaceutical, cosmetic and nutrition industries and through its own D2C Health and Wellness Business. Ilan has brought the company’s first product, VINIA®, a red grape derived Blood Circulation Superfood, to North America, generating more than $50 Million in D2C revenues since launching in the USA in May 2021 with more than 50,000 Active subscribers. Over the past 5 years Ilan has scaled production capabilities from R+D to industry leading industrial scale with a state of the art fully digitized biological facility. Ilan is building a “fast” biotech company that has the capability to produce consistently, sustainably and economically life-changing compounds from plants without growing the plant itself.
Prior to BioHarvest, Ilan served for 6 years at Weissbeerger, as both Chief Operating Officer and then Chief Commercial Officer.
